Glad I can be of help to you. I practice yoga and I'm a Brahmacharini. I guess you could say I'm a yogini, but I'm not a yoga master or anything like the other great masters that you mention. I think they are all realized souls, yes. I feel closer to God, but I think not in the same way as the Bhaktas do because I tend more toward the advaita vedanta and hatha yoga/ raja yoga/ karma yoga branches for my regular practice. However, I do love kirtan and satsang as well. Each of us needs to pursue those directions that we like best so our spiritual progress continues. Many oms and have a wonderful day.

This is gr8 ! so, i am on d right track. you jus dont know what a feeling i am going thro' after reading your comment it means lot to me. R u a Yogi? can u share ur experiece how u met ur Guru? Do u feel closer to God all d time? I feel Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Ramana Maharshi , and Gurnanak, Swami sivananda and Swami Chinmayananda are the true realized souls. Am i right?whenever i read their books and listen to their lectures i want to b like them. They r my driving force in my life.

Just keep going. You are doing the right things already. Over time the feelings will last longer and longer.

You can start to think about God more in your daily life by dedicating all your actions as you go through the day to Him. You can also say mantras throughout the day. You can also sing the kirtans you hear in satsang throughout each day. You could also try handing over your fears to God and trusting that He will take care of you. All these things will help give you the feeling of being closer to God.

Don't worry if you don't know the vedas or scriptures. It doesn't matter - what matters most is what is in your heart.

I do attend satsangs sometimes i am so moved by in these lectures tht i just cry and beg to lord to let my body mind and soul be with him. But i am sad to say tht these feeling of longing for God last for a short time. I want this feeling to be there for ever , May be is it cuz as i dont know any yoga or i not much into vedas which is making me go off track? Pleeez help me looking frwd for ur comments.

Comment by Sita Chaitanya on July 12, 2010 at 3:26pm: Well Anandi, that is a good question about fears. Everybody has them. If you do regular meditation, pranayama and asanas with sincerity over a period of time I know that fears will reduce. For each person it is different depending on how deep and longlasting the fears are, and many other factors. Yoga takes time but it does work.

I think many of the fears are caused by blockages at the muladhara chakra. We do asanas to remove blockages, pranayama to purify and strengthen the nadis, and then meditation, which will help you deal with the issues as they begin to unblock. For me I also read a lot of scriptures and Swami Sivananda books so I would always be thinking positive things and learning the related practices.

Over time the fears lessen and you can deal with them a lot better. Hopefully, eventually they go away altogether.
