Yoga vs regular exercise

Yoga vs regular exerciseNaturopath SR Jindal believes the benefits of yogasanas are manifold and that they score over physical exercise. He lists why yogic exercise is the better optionPatanjali’s Yoga Sutras describe asanas as “sthiram sukam asanam”, meaning a body position that is “steady, calm and comfortable”. Physical exercise, on the other hand is an activity that works our muscles and needs energy. It is different from yoga asana. Here are the differences:1. Physical exercise consumes…See More

Maya

Maya does not exist from the standpoint of Reality.Maya is only an explanation of creation given by those who hold creation to be a fact. None (is) in bondage, none liberated, this is the ultimate truth. Yogis look upon mind as separate from Atman, that they seek to control it in Samadhi. But Gaudapada says that the mind is the non-dual Atman. Therefore there does not arise any question of controlling it. The mind and its activities are nothing but the non-dual Brahman, ever pure, ever free and…See More

Witness-Consciousness

The ego is the patron, the sense objects the audience, the intellect the dancer, the sense organs musicians playing on their instruments; and the lamp illumining them all is the witness-consiousness.(Panchadasi, 10.14)As a lamp reveals all objects while remaining in its own place, so does the witness-consciousness, itself ever motionless, illumine the objects with and without(including the workings of the mind).(Panchadasi, 10.15)See More

A verse on Shiva

Posted on December 20, 2009 at 4:30pm 0 Comments

"Samsara roga haram aushadham adwiteeyam pratar bhajami shivamekam anantham aadyam" - a verse on Shiva.

I now worship that endless principle of consciousness, that by its undivided nature, is the medicine that destroys the disease of birth and death.
