Kumari de Silva said… My concern about Power Yoga is the sequencing is relatively fast. If have not perfected your alignment and then repeatedly perform them you risk repetitive stress injury. This sort of injury is generally not apparent for a couple of months. If you start to notice soreness in your joints, elbows, hips or knees - that is indicative of this sort of issue.
If you like Power Yoga, I don't think that's reason enough to stop. I would suggest supplementing with a few Iyengar classes so that you can get square on the postures and avoid injury. Iyengar isn't appealing to everyone because by contrast, it's slow and traditionally has no music. You can split the difference by finding a Yoga teacher with a small class who has time to show you stuff.
That said, the best yoga is yoga you enjoy! Please continue doing yoga!
