Today starts Navaratri - the nine days in honor of the Divine Mother

Today is starting Navaratri - the nine days in honor of the Divine Mother.
During the first three days Durga is worshipped.
During the next three days Lakshmi ist worshipped.
The last nine days Saraswati ist worshipped.

Today and the next two days recite the Mantra Om Shri Durgayai Namaha - and other Mantras/Kirtans in praise of the Divine Mother.

Ayurveda Doshas - Vata, Pita and Kapha

When practicing Yoga, it might be helpful to know your Ayurveda Dosha:

  • A Vata type might have to practice more calmly than he is naturally inclined to
  • A Pitta type should make sure to include relaxation and meditation

How to develop Muscle Strength in Yoga

Yoga can help to develop muscle strength. Often Yoga is supposed to be good for flexibility, for coordination, for concentration, for relaxation. But you can also develop muscle strength.

Make sure you do postures which are demanding for your muscles. Hold them for about 10-30 seconds. Find out ways how you can make the postures more demanding for strength. Most important muscles to develop are:
