I am 62 and have had a long success streak with yoga helping me feel great. I am very disciplined and do yoga everyday for decades, but I believe that must be my current problem as my routine was pretty much the same everyday and very centered on hip openers. Though I have had a double herniated disc for decades and yoga has made it a non-problem. Now I have sciatica for 3 weeks with no improvement- the doctor who had been a major college sports medicine therapist for athletes told me I had…Continue

Without renunciation, Bhakti or devotion can never be cultivated in the heart.
God demands complete self-surrender from His devotees.
Love is a tremendous force in the world.
It draws men together.
It is quite as real as electricity or magnetism or gravity.
All life is divine.
All love is basically divine love.
A devotee who has made total self-surrender to God feels that he has no independent existence of his own.
He lives in…

PRE-REQUISITES FOR MEDITATION
You cannot practise meditation if your mind is full of desires, and if your mind is diverted by any external object.
If your mind is unruly, uncontrolled, if your heart is full of resentment and turbulence, there will be no meditation for you.
He who has practised Yama-Niyama and Pratyahara will obtain the full benefit of meditation.
Meditation is not successful without discipline and devotion. Concentration leads to meditation.

right and wrong
'right' and 'wrong' are relative terms.
they vary according to time, special circumstances, varna - caste, and asrama - stage of life.
morality is a changing and relative term.
the passionate man who molests his wife frequently, to gratify his own passion, is more immoral than man who visits the house of a woman of ill-fame once in six months.
the man who dwells constantly on immoral thoughts, is the most immoral man of all.
do you clearly…Continue

For the last year and a half,I did a series of exercises to awaken myself. With help of Suba, for whom I am eternally thankful,it seems that I awakened Kundalini.
I am aware of internal transformations, and external happenings.
Every tiny changes, events, allows me to notice it!!
Like bird chirping, wind playing with slightly opened window, neighbor taking to girlfriend,my mom slightly appealed by too much smoking, feelings about beautiful girl in supermarket, with shy smile ,…

Know that by long prostration, by question and by service, the wise who have realised the Truth will instruct thee in (that) knowledge.(4:34)
Knowing that, thou shalt not, O Arjuna, again become deluded like this; and by that thou shalt see all beings in thy Self and also in Me!(4:35)

This isn't meant to be a puerile thread.
But then it's just an observation.
Most tend to be pretty, and is this because attractive women are more confident?
Some studies show this as a preliminal link.
But obviously looks are not need to practice or teach yoga.
Sorry if this offends anybody, but then it's just an observation as stated.

SUCH IS OM
The origin of all is Om.
The origin of all creation is Om.
Om pervades all creation.
The essence of all sounds in the world is Om.
As the rivers flow, the bird chirp, the wind blows over housetops, the motor horns and the railway engine whistles, you hear the sound Om.
You will have a good voice and you will become master of languages.
Meditate on Om.
You will shine as a great Yogi.
