Main point is that we must not desire to have things happen according to our wishes. Even if we have the highest of desire, then too, our inner faculties are not that pure that it can determine what is best for our spiritual well-being. Let our desires, our wishes be aligned with His wishes. Let me do things according to His will. To tell someone - God, Guru etc., that you must do so and so is a mistake. It should be that we should go towards them and see to what they are wishing from us. Such wishing, assumes that they don't already know what is best for us. It does not mean not to say anything. Tell it to get it out of your system like a child and become free of all worries and fears. Our intent is not to tell them to have our wishes come true, but it is with intent of getting it out of our system. Just like a child tells his mother – "Maa" what he feels. Simply tell! It does not mean tell anything you think off with intent of asking for silly things. Have no reservations in telling, but at the same time do not ask for things. Do not keep any doubts within. The more our relationship is open, the more that we clarify the better. Gita 18:66 tells us this point. Let these sentiments come in you. Why Arjuna alone received this knowledge when an entire army of 18 "akshonies" was present?.
Like Eklavya, who gained all the knowledge, because of his sentiments of "anayataah". Exclusive faith, belief in his Guru's grace, even though the Guru did not accept him as a disciple. He became a better archer than even Arjuna. Why? Was there something lacking in Arjuna's sentiments? There may have had some pride in Arjuna's own abilities and knowledge. Eklavya had only one sentiment that was in the Guru's grace by which he was able to learn.
In "adhyaatma" (knowledge about Truth), even if Guru is incapable, the student can gain immensely. God himself will make certain, therefore let there not be "manushya buddhi" in Guru i.e. seeing "Guru" as a person. If our sentiments are that the Guru is the greatest of all, like Bhagwaan, then the responsibility will be on Bhagwaan to make certain we are not let down. When sadhak goes to saint, a great soul (mahatma), then his duty is over said Sethji. Let us simply give ourselves. However he wants to make me, let him do so. The clay turned itself over to become a pot. The iron turns itself over to become steel. The sadhak does not have to worry or be concerned. It is the Guru's responsibility. If the Guru is not proper, and the sadhak is sincere and has intense longing for the Truth, then God Himself will send the sadhak to someone else, or Guru will become what the sadhak sees in him. We do not have to have any doubts. When we begin to desire things of this world (bhoutik) things, then it is a problem. Remain as small as possible with your Guru. This is real dust of His Lotus Feet - "charano ki rajji". See to what will make him happy! Even saying "shower your grace on me," (kripa karo) is showing disrespect. Do according to His wishes. As such the body is not the Guru. Simply pay attention to his teachings (vachans) and respect his words. Guru is knowledge (gyaan). If you do not listen due to your pride, you will fall. Do not be deceitful. Be simple and straight forward in heart. God does not like craftiness. There should be nothing lacking in our sentiments. Blend your `Yes' with His `Yes' (Uski Haa mein Haa milaa do) . Our aim (lakshya), our surrendering (sharanagati) are the main things. All will happen by His grace. Krishna is the Guru of all. "Krishnam vande jagat guru".
