Hi, friends on Yoga!
Now In my personal Hatha Yoga practice, I decided to experiment something new and did cross-legged padmasana in the opposite way, say, the left leg on the right muscle and the right one on the left. It was no so hard but the sensation was subjectively something strange, alien I would say! Hah, hah! The point is that I am worried about the foundation of this performance due to could I think of it in terms of laterality or in the Ida-Pingala background. So it is not a matter of game. Have you ever practised this asana (lotus) this way? What the foundation? What the results? Pretty thanks in advance for your comments.</div>Names of Asanashttps://my.yoga-vidya.org/forum/topics/names-of-asanas2009-11-28T18:25:02.000Z2009-11-28T18:25:02.000ZSukadev Bretzhttps://my.yoga-vidya.org/members/SukadevBretz<div>One more question I received via Email:
<i>"maybe you know the reason why in different "styles" of yoga the names of the asanas change: like Dhanurasana is sometimes bow floor pose or the full wheel... or child'r pose: balasana or barankasana...
kakasana is called balasana by others...
so which is the right? "</i>
here is my answer:
Names: There are different names for the same Asana. India is a big country - nearly a continent. Different names have emerged. Sometimes different Masters have translated the Sanskrit terms into different English terms. As long as one knows what Asana one is talking about, different names can be possible.
Any opinions?</div>Asanas and menstruationhttps://my.yoga-vidya.org/forum/topics/asanas-and-menstruation2009-03-26T10:30:42.000Z2009-03-26T10:30:42.000ZAditihttps://my.yoga-vidya.org/members/Aditi<div>I usually like doing Asanas during my period/menstruation. It really helps, relaxes and energizes me to do my Asanas then.
I hear that some Yoga teachers say you should not do any Asanas or at least no inverted postures during your period.
What is your experience? Do you practice Asanas during your period?
(I am from Germany - I hope my English expressions are correct).</div>
