What decides success of life? Living life on ideals? Not necessarily. Leaving record in history for the posterity to cherish and learn. I do not care.

For me, it is very specific. Whether we know or not, time for us to live here is finite and fixed. There are times when get pleasant experience and there are unpleasant ones. Irrespective of what world offers, irrespective of times, if on an average, if fraction of happy moments to total moments, life is successful; living is… Continue

An Ashram Is Where Life Meets Wisdom By Swami Venkatesananda

It was nearly 5 a.m. The east was aglow with dawn. The birds were awake. The Aus t ral ian bi rd Kookaburra laughed, perhaps at those still in bed. The magpie sang to wake these lazy ones. The bell rang at 5:30 and all of us walked up to the meditation room where after some prayers and kirtan-singing the practice of meditation commenced. Thus began the first day at the Yoga Camp in Perth. The ten-day Yoga Camp had been organised jointly by the Yoga School of Perth, the University Yoga Club and… Continue

 • 1. Source
 • 2. River
 • 3. Rapids
 • 4. Dam
 • 5. Immersion
 • 6.…

Alpha state

Brain waves range from low to high frequency. Low is delta (one to four hertz). This state provides regenerative sleep and deep rest. Theta (four to six hertz) is the state you are in as you fall asleep. Children with attention issues seem to be stuck in theta. These are the children who need to move around the room. They are trying to get to an alpha state. Beta is twelve to twenty hertz. This is a focused state of mind when you are working on something. A lot of people in our culture do not… Continue
