MEDITATION DISSOLVES DOUBTS

Regular meditation opens the doors of intuitional knowledge, makes the mind still, calm and steady, awakens an ecstatic feeling and brings the Yogic student in contact with. the source or the Supreme Purusha.
If there are doubts they are cleared by themselves as you march on the path of meditation. You will yourself know tile way to place your foot on the next rung of the spiritual ladder. A mysterious inner voice will guide you. Listen attentively to this voice, O Yogindra.

BRAHMACHARYA IS INDISPENSABLE

The semen or Veerva tones the nerves and brain and gives energy to the system. He who preserves this vital force through the vow of Brahmacharya and sublimates it into Ojas Shakti, can practice deep and steady meditation for a long period. He can ascend the ladder of Yoga without difficulty.
Without Brahmacharya no spiritual progress is possible, it is the very foundation on which the superstructure of meditation and Samadhi are to be built up. Many people waste the vital energy. This is indeed a

HUMILITY IS POWER

Humility is a bomb of infinite potency which alone can destroy the invincible citadel of egoism. Egoism is harder than granite. He who is endowed with the divine quality of humility can conquer the three worlds. The humble man is really blessed. He will soon enter the realms of eternal peace.
The spirit of the Srutis and Upanishads cannot be understood even in a hundred years by those who are proud and conceited and who think themselves very learned. Therefore, give up conceit and become humble.

MORE THAN MARTYRDOM

Victory over the mind is certainly victory over death. The inner war with the mind is more terrible and formidable than the outer war with weapons. The conquest of the mind is more difficult than con¬quest of the world through force of arms. Achieve this conquest and enjoy eternal bliss, everlasting peace and unalloyed felicity.

Never think that you are a wretched person. Drive away such wrong ideas. Be as brave as a lion, Be always cheerful. In reality you are the Atman. This body is only a sheath that has to be thrown away. Nobody can hurt the Atman. It is invulnerable.
When your house is on fire how daringly you enter it to remove your child who is asleep in the room! Even so, you must be very courageous when you tread the spiritual path. You must be absolutely fearless. You must not have the least attachment to your

NECESSITY OF SECLUSION

Eknath, Raja Janaka and others realized God by practicing spiritual Sadhana while remaining in the world. The central teaching of the Bhagavad Gita is to realize in and through the world. These great sages were really Yoga Brashtas (fallen in Yoga in their previous births). To follow their example is impos¬sible for the vast majority.
Lord Jesus was missing for eighteen years. Lord Buddha went into seclusion for eight years m the Uruvala forest. You can make a beginning in the world but when you

THE STATE OF FREEDOM

A desire arises in the mind. It is gratified and another desire arises. In the interval between the two desires there is perfect stillness of mind.
When the mind is fully concentrated on Brahman, it becomes one with Brahman, like camphor that becomes one with the flame, like salt that becomes one with water, like water that becomes one with milk. The mind melts in Brahman. It becomes of the nature of Brahman. This is the state of Kaivalya or freedom. Therefore, know Brahman and be free.

ARCH ENEMIES

Lust, anger and pride are the root causes of all human misery. They are the enemies of peace. Think of the havoc that they bring in one's life. If you can convince yourself that they drain your vitality, and that you should eradicate them for your own well-being, then their conquest becomes easy. Victory over these three arch-enemies is the greatest of all conquests. It makes one a real hero.

TAINT NOT THY NAME

Maintain your good name. A good name is really the source of one’s strength. One lives in vain if one's reputation is lost. He is a dead man though he may be alive. A man does not die so long as his fame lasts.
Your character depends upon the quality of the thoughts held in your mind and the mental pictures and ideals entertained by you. As you think, so you become. If your thoughts are of a base nature, you will have a bad character. If you entertain noble thoughts, sublime ideals and holy pictu

Exercise discrimination in all that you do. Do not think of the past or the future. The past days of boyhood, your days of studentship - all these are dreams when you are over forty. You have to deal with the present only. The present is most important.

FORMULAE FOR MEDITATION

Fire is generated by rubbing two pieces of wood. Even so, the fire of wisdom is generated by intense meditation on the Supreme Self.
In the beginning the mind is disciplined by fixing it on a concrete object or symbol. When it is rendered steady and stable, it can then be fixed on an abstract idea such as, "I am Brahman."
Meditate always on the following formulae: "I am pure Consciousness. I am Satchidananda Brahman. I am the immutable, self-effulgent, immortal Self. I am the silent witness of the

IMAGINARY FEARS

The mind creates havoc through its power of imagination, imaginary fears, mental dramatization, building castles in the air - all these are due to this power of imagination. Even a perfectly healthy man has some imaginary disease or other created by the power of the mind. Imaginary fears involve a great loss of energy. Give up such forms of fear.

SEE GOOD IN ALL

We generally speak ill of others but fail to see the good in them. Every man has some virtue or other. There is no absolute rogue on the surface of this earth. Develop the faculty of seeing good only in others.
Evil and good are the obverse and reverse sides of the same coin. They are relative terms. Like light and darkness, they are co-relatives. The existence of one is necessary for the recognition of the other. Hatred and untruth exist to glorify love and truth.
