MOTIVE DETERMINES FRUIT

Near Hanuman Ghat in Benares two girls were drowning. Two young men rushed immediately into the Ganges and save them. One man asked one of the girls to marry him; the other said, "l have done my duty. God gave me an opportunity of serving and improving myself." The latter had purity of heart.
The external action was the same in both cases, but the motive was different. The fruit also must therefore be different.
Be righteous always and never deviate from the path of righteousness. Virtue brings it

IGNORE CRITICISM

Are you the Atman or mind or body? Even though you have read my writings a thousand and one times, you still identify yourself with the mind and body and lose your mental balance when a little criticism is made. So strong is your egoism.
People criticize your body and mind or become your friends. Why do you get agitated then, my dear Krishna? You are still weak. You have not grown spiritually. Ignore criticism.

THE VOW OF AHIMSA

Ahimsa, the rarest of virtues, transmutes a man into Divinity. All the gods and the whole world pay homage to such a man. It is easier to develop the intellect than to develop the heart. THE FIVE SHEATHS ARE NOT THE SELF

Illusion arises in man because of ignorance or the absence of the faculty which discriminates between the eternal Atman and the five illusory sheaths which are falsely superimposed upon the Atman.
The five sheaths are creations of the mind on account of ignorance. They cannot be the pure, self-existent, sell-luminous Atman. The Srutis declare that the eternal Atman is bodiless. Tile changes that occur in the five sheaths do not affect their seer and proprietor, the Atman.

THE PUNDIT AND THE SAGE

The foolish man identifies himself with a mass of flesh, fat, skin, bones and

from his perishable body. The stupid man thinks that he is the body.

The learned pundit, who has read some religious books, identifies himself with a
mixture of body and soul, while the liberated sage regards the eternal,
unchanging Atman as his Self. So long as the pundit does not abandon his
erroneous identification with this unreal, perishable
