First, Ganesha is invoked, who removes all obstacles. Ganesha is called Isha, the God, the Lord of all Ganas and Ganas are all good forces. When you start something new, you ask for power and blessings. Ganesha is considered to be a particularly auspicious aspect.
Ganesha is the elephant god, which means he is like a strong elephant. He is known to remove all obstacles.
The second aspect is Sharavanabhava, called Subramanya. Sharavanabhava actually means "he who comes out of the reeds." Sharavana means "from the reed forest" and Bhava - "the one who was born there, who comes from there". There is a long myth around Sharavanabhava, which you can read on our web pages.
He is called Subramanya, the one who is the good power of Brahman. He is considered Kartikeya, he had the Kritikas as his nurses, that is, the angels of the Pleiades. Subramanya is Shanmukha, the six-faced one and Skanda. "Om Sharavanabhavaya" symbolizes the power and strength to continue even in difficult situations.
The third aspect is Saraswati. Saraswati is the patron goddess of the Sivananda tradition, firstly because the Sivananda tradition belongs to the Saraswati branch of the Shankaracharya order. Therefore, Swami Sivananda is also called Saraswati. Secondly, Saraswati is the willingness to learn, to be open, to be creative, because Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, learning.
Now the guru is invoked, the spiritual teacher: "Om Gum Gurubhyo Namah." We ask for guidance. In particular, we invoke our masters, namely Swami Sivananda. We ask, "Oh God, send us your light, your truth, to guide us."
Mantras are powerful sound energies in Sanskrit, a language for prayers and chants.
Proper use of these sound energies helps to achieve health, inner harmony, mental clarity, powerful life energy, unfoldment of love and joy. The highest goal of Mantra Yoga, as always in yoga, is the realization of true nature, oneness with infinite life itself. Mantra Yoga is considered one of the most powerful, easiest, safest and fastest ways to this realization.
