🕉️ GANESHA CHATURTHI - The holiest day for Ganesha
On this day, we honor the birth of Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati. Millions of Hindus worldwide decorate altars, sing mantras, and ask Ganesha for protection and guidance. We at Yoga Vidya also celebrate this joyful spiritual festival in honor of Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom, with rituals, music, puja, yoga, and inner reflection.
🕉️ SAHASRA GANAPATI UTSAVA – 1000 GANESHAS & THE RITUAL OF LETTING GO
Two days later, a unique ritual took place at the ashram, which is probably the first of its kind in Germany: 1000 clay figures of Ganesha were consecrated and then dissolved in water. This Vinayaka Nimarjanam ritual symbolizes letting go of attachments, purifying the mind, and remembering the transience of all material things. In the process, the clay—just like us—returns to its source. This powerful ceremony brought blessings, inner peace, and connectedness to all participants.
🙏 A JOINT INITIATIVE “Sahasra Ganapati Utsava” is a joint initiative of the Hindu Forum Germany, the Hindu Community of Germany KdöR, Yoga Vidya e.V., and Gita Vidya Peetam as the core committee. This festival brings together Hindus in Germany to honor Ganesha with 1,000 figures and ask for his blessings for prosperity, peace, and the overcoming of obstacles.
