New Year's Eve in Tiruvannamalai

OMEnlightenment is not an "experience". Really, it is the ability to assimilate and understand your actions. If your True Self is the "Light", how can you become enlightened? Understanding your actions helps you to transform yourself. My best wishes for the new year. May it be a year that is filled with enough suffering to make you want to change your life and your negative thought patterns.

  • The human mind always sets targets or goals which needs to be achieved from time to time and only then it is satisfied.Only then the time spent on current pursuits is fulfilling and meaningful. It is really strange that the mind works in this pattern just about always. So thats how 'enlightenment' came about. It is supposed to be the end of spiritual pursuit and the beginning of an even more meaningful journey. In short 'enlightenment' doesn't exist, its just another of mind's beautiful creations. Well some would argue that the knowledge of the ultimate eternal truth transforms a person once and for all. But i would argue in the first place regarding the presumption of such an eternal truth. Secondly if a spiritual aspirant finally arrives at this truth then again it is wrong to preconceive that this knowledge would transform a person irrevocably and alter him/her spiritualistically to such a great degree.

When you say "If your True Self is the "Light", how can you become enlightened? Understanding your actions helps you to transform yourself." you are correct and i agree with you.
