Any ideas of asanas that I can teach women over 50 who has never done yoga? One of our facebook friends asked this question. Here are some replies - do you have any other ideas to add to this?
Shekhar: Om namah shivaya
Normally you may teach those joint movements and pawan mukatasan serious.
But mainly it depends on their body type and physically fitness. If they are fit or they r suffering from any desease.
It'll be better to t...each those paranayaam more than yogasana.
Hope it'll help u out.
Ramesh: simple yoga-flying yoga-jogging .........once they acclimitized to simple we can go for higher forms step by step ......pranayam...yoga..relax..yoga ...relax....continue
Gayathre: you can teach all asanas except inversions. go slow on the balancing asanas. suryanamskar is actually good, unless they are suffering from back pain
Mita: start with pranayam.....n keeping health condition in mind....n then ...above all comments rito....
Shirley: Prana you can do.
I remember that is my 1st lesson many year ago .
Claire: Pranayama, gentle stretches, warm up the neck, wrists, ankles, gentle twists, apanasana, cat, balances, obviously if they have high blood pressure you always keep the head above the heart, otherwise they can do most asana's and relaxation/yoga nidra. Namaste.
Archana: ys sure she has to start slowly .find out 1st if she has any problem like bp?heart problem or any thing else ?and then u can start
Harsh: y dont u use the book of iyengar,u'll find each and every way for teach various asanas to any age group step wise ..
