Because one has an experience of samadhi or kundalini does not mean one is enlightened. One mus be living in the state of fullness and grace and sumbergend in the the Saundrya-lahari (ocean of universal bliss) It is said the more happy (inner happiness) we are, the close we are coming to living in enlightenment. Hatha Yoga Pradipika (bijar school of yoga version) has a good description of enlightenment in the section on laya yoga. Kundalini awakening is not needed for enlightenment. This path is popular because it deals with the body and many people are body oriented. There are clear signs along the way. Other paths deal with the mind (mantra laya, zen ) or pure devotion (bhakti).
