Feeling sore after doing yoga

Is it normal to feel sore the next day after doing yoga? One of our facebook fans asked this question and received several replies - what would you advise? Saraswati: Yes Riza: with yoga will be your body more rilex and flexible and always to healty. Maria: If you strech and lenghten your muscles I think that it´s normal to feel it. Especially when you start dong Yoga and never before you have done any exercise. Gayathre: Yes . It is normal to feel sore if you are new to yoga. You can also feel sore if you are trying new asanas that you have never done before. The muscle soreness settles down after a few days and then you start enjoying the benefits of the asanas Natasha: if you are not regular its good if you feel a bit sore and then you also feel the benifits .First you would be a little weaker and tired also but then the strenght would improve fast adn you would take on more stress easily as time passes by . Mamik: I think it's only matter of time, maybe ur not familiar or less appropriate to do yoga.. Shammi: If you are practicing a particular posture for the first time or may be after a gap of month or months and also have repeated the same or had been holding that posture for sometime, soreness becomes a natural reaction. Will settle in 3-4 days. Keep practicing the same set next day also, you will feel much relieved. Kireet: After completing Asanas, practice Savasana for a long time. Swami Saradananda: OM - if you are sore, it means that your practice is too erratic. It would be better if you do at least a bit every day. Lucy: Imagine you have a car or motorbike that you have left standing for a long time without using it or servicing it. The next time you use it it is sure to make some strange noises and drive roughly if it can even turn on but with regular use and servicing and new petrol it works fine again. This is the same with your body. It requires balanced pure food and regular servicing and nurturing ie yoga. after regular practice of 15 days and staying regular thereafter you should not feel any problems again.
