Guru's role in leading to wisdom

This quote and question was posted on facebook and received many comment - do you have any comments to add?
“First of all, to understand truth you must stand alone, entirely and wholly alone. No Master, no teacher, no guru, no system, no self-discipline will ever lift for you the veil which conceals wisdom. Wisdom is the understanding of enduring values and the living of those values. No one can lead you to wisdom.” Krishnamurti.
How do you think this idea fits with the idea of needing a Guru’s grace?

Liew: without the blessings and grace of the master.........would anyone be able to see the wisdom and thruth beyond to explore on one's own? only time will tell and time too is relative......my deepest gratitude to my guru......namaste !!!

Ivo: This might refer to the firts steps. To progress you need the guidance of a spiritual master to show you unwalked ways. The Guru is the only way out of the labyrinth. There is no other way.

Chetankumar: U come alone ,U go alone
But wen u r in der, always seek for a Guru's kind help and be worthy of his trust and knowledge.
He can show u the way ,but cannot walk with U
One needs to be independent and have retrospective of himself.
God loves only... this independcy
Rest all Independence of all sorts ,are like a Betrayal to da Supreme.

Shailendra: The Sadguru always teaches the disciple to be free. The wisdom Krisnamurti talked about is direct, first hand experience of the truth (in his words "what is"). Buddha, Raman Rishi, Krishnamurti and many more got enlightened when they were entirely alone

Ekodas: True Guru is WITHIN you; physical Gurus or Masters only teach you or show you the way upto the level of 'their' own understanding, which you can not physically verify . Truth can not be described it can only be 'realized which you can only do WITHIN yourself.
