This question was asked and answered on facebook - maybe you have more ideas?
Harte: It is not possible if you practice yoga for 3 2years, and u didn't get fruition...wrong with the consistence else wrong education imparted if you are true in your dedication...
Denise: The teacher.
Veerasana: tell me more...is yogic diet and meditation also a part of this? Asanas alone are not enough.
Sidnei: And how often is the practice?!
Anne: "When the student is ready...the teacher will come..."
Premal: sometimes it takes very long... asanas are only postures that make foundation strong for further progress... and foundations are not seen (they are below the ground) but seem proven when you built upon that....
Vidya: no..yogic diet is not a part of this. the meditation classes the student followed were experienced positive..but when practicing hatha yoga asanas according to the teacher there was no progress , and even when the student remarked that a lower back pain problem is troubling there were not specific asanas given..just followed the class. teacher later told..it's in ur mind, that u not progress
Guru: First, is the teacher qualified ?, 2 Is the student practicing systematically and following the advices of the teacher ? Then there shouldn't be much problem. Sometimes the progress is bit slow due to age , the younger you are the more flexible your body is and the results are faster !
Misa: And it could be definitely resistance in the mind of the student...
Erica: Bring an empty class to the mat everytime, then you will find you are progressing every time =)!!!! No judgement but keep practice and awareness ! Enjoys yoga enjoy life =)
Niranjan: Remember that Yoga is not just an excercise regime. It helps in making a person SWASTHA - SWA+ASTHA (Established in Oneself). Yoga is UNION with your SELF. If you want to understand this better and experience this, do the "Basic Course" and "Sri Sri Yoga" from the Art Of Living. Listen to "Patanjali's Yoga Sutras" By Sri Sri Ravishankar. Yoga requires a lifetime of dedication and love to it.
Yenny: I agree with Sidnei. 2 years regularly or on and off?
Sanjay: u r absolutely rite @niranjan ji...
Suguna: Breathing , breathing , breathing .... Yoga is useless without breath . In class we used to be told that if there were any niggling pains n aches one has to visualise as we inhale that the breath (prana) is travelling to that area , as one ...exhales conciously relax those muscles, I always had amazing results. I am surprised that the student's bank pain wasnt taken into account during practice. I suffered from extreme lower back ache and weakness after child birth and my gurus guided me ever so gently , that today I have a GREAT bendy back .. among the bendiest in class !! Maybe find another teacher ...in Yoga there should never be pain .See More
Victoria: Sometimes progress is just not going backwards... staying "in the same place" for some people is a sign of progress.
Robert: I can't believe that after 2 years of Hatha Yoga, you don't feel any progress. I think the reason is student's mind (assuming that your teacher is not a fitness instructor, as you see in most of the yoga classes in downtown :) ).
Anju: practicing yoga means total surrender to GOD !!
