  • For high blood pressure I think you can do any of the yoga asanas except inversions. Inversions, where the head is lower than the heart, bring the blood into the upper part of the body and raise the blood pressure so you want to avoid those. Also avoid too much holding of the breath during pranayama. One thing that can really help a lot with stress is to try Yoga Nidra. It's very relaxing. Also meditation can help a lot in reducing stress and high blood pressure. Yoga is very healing and a well-rounded practice can help you a lot. At the same time, if your blood pressure is so high it's in a dangerous range, it might be a good idea for you to take some medication to relieve this temporarily, start your yoga practice in the meantime, and eventually you may be able to stop taking the medication.
