Kundalini yoga is based on kriyas, or specially formulated sets of exercises, not just postures, and the benefits of kriyas are considerably greater than doing random postures, which is one of the reasons that KY works much more quickly and effectively than other forms such as Hatha - it is much more precise, and allows you to target specific benefits and work on exactly those aspects of yourself that need work at the current time.

Dear Angela,
Namaste,
The Yoga no matter whether it is named as Kundalini yoga, Hata yoga, Kriya yoga, Mantara yoga, Bhakti yoga and etc. etc. each of them requires a practice systematically with different types of functions which are known as kriyas so quoting Kundalini yoga is based on kriyas only looks something alike that you are trying to say other named yoga does not based on Kriyas.
Eventually all kinds of practices done to reach Yoga are The Kriyas and based on these Kriyas only every Yogi/Yogini attains the state of YOGA through awaking the subtle divine power known as Kundalini and without awakening it successfully and upholding within for forever no YOGA get completed correctly and successfully.
With LOVE,
Kriyananda Maharshi Dayananda
