Som Vaar is dedicated to lord Shiva. His devotees fast and offer prayers on this day.
Special significance is attached to the Som Vaar falling in the month of Saawan.
Mangal Vaar takes after the planet Mangal ( Mars ) and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
Budh Vaar takes after the planet Budh ( Mercury ) which is named after the Devtaa of wisdom and wealth.
Brihaspati Vaar takes after the planet Brahaspati ( Jupiter ) which is named after guru Brahaspati of the Devtaas.
Shukra Vaar takes after the sage ShukraCharya who was the guru of the demons or Danavas.
Shani Vaar takes after the planet Shani ( Saturn ) which is named after lord ShaniDev.
Ravi Vaar is dedicated to Lord Surya or the Sun god.
