How to practice yoga as a beginner

i am a beginner & want to learn how to practice yoga ??? One of our facebook friends asked this question and received several replies - what would you advise? Eileen: It is best to have a teacher to guide you, try different yoga classes to find one that suits you, there are many different styles, from slow and gentle to the more power yoga styles and everything in between...you can use dvds and there are many places on the net...but a teacher is best to help you adjust to poses by giving other options etc...hope you find a class that is just right for you..Namaste♥ Solveig: ..practice, enjoy...in_joy... Claire: Breath and enjoy the journey.. I would recommened you study the eight limbs of yoga.. Learn how to breath and know there is no such thing as being bad at yoga.. Namaste :) Saraswati: f you have some budget to travel, come to the Bahamas Sivananda Ashram at the end of April 2011 where I will be teaching a five-day beginner course. You will get a complete overview/immersion of what yoga is all about. The asanas, pranayama, meditation, relaxation and yogic diet. Mis: First ask your teacher or try to do an easy posture Guru Bala: The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step; approach a qualified master he will take care of you !

  • If you're not sure exactly how to introduce yoga into your day to day life, here are some easy tips to get started. Yoga is more than just a form of exercise. It's a way of existing in the world. A way of being, so to speak. The word yoga itself means "union" in Sanskrit. Union among all aspects of your life. Start with Acceptance, Release Expectations, Understand the Core of Yoga, Notice Your Breathing, Get Comfortable in Stillness, Learn Basic Yoga Poses, Find Beginner Classes.

  • Beginners should learn how to do poses, breathing, and other exercises in a way that brings their awareness to the present moment. Yoga is an excellent way to learn self-control, as well as balance and strength. You can practice at home or in a place that allows advanced yoga postures, like a home gym. Then, as you continue to practice regular poses throughout the day, you’ll begin to see positive changes in your physical health, and in fact, any stress in your life will begin to ease.
