I came across a beautifu Sanskrit saying:
Anyatra-mana abbhuvam nadarsham
Anyatra-manana abbuvam nashrausham
Manasaivayam pashyati manasa shrnoti
My mind was elsewhere; I did not hear.
My mind was elsewhere: I did not see what was happening.
It is the mind who sees and hears.
So, what are the senses? I look forward to your comments on this.

Maybe senses are just instruments of the mind.
Yoga Vasishta says that Consciousness thought itself to be the mind, the senses, the body, the perceived universe etc. It also says that Consciousness is also the Divine Lord. Who knows? Truth has to be experienced after hearing about it na?
in my opinion the sences are tools for shiva to experience himself.

That's why tastes of people differ according to their discipline and lifestyle. Eg. When the mind wishes to eat spicy food, irrespective
of the effects, the taste buds are ever ready to co-operate. In psychosomatic imbalance the senses go awry and thus the body gets affected.
'Yoga', the word is derived from the sanskrit word 'Yuj' which means 'to join' the mind with the body (psychosomatic co-ordination) and eventually with the soul(spiritual co-ordination, Moksha). With regular practice the mind gets disciplined and the senses come under control.........................making it easy for an individual to evolve spiritually
