In December 2008, I completed the Yoga Teachers’ Training Course at the Sivananda Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala, India, where I received a “Yoga Siromani” (Teacher of Yoga) certification. In March 2009, I completed the Advanced Yoga Teachers’ Training Course at the Sivananda Meenakshi Ashram in Tamil Nadu, India, where I received a “Yoga Acharya” (Master of Yoga) certification. Prior to my studies in India, I practiced SIvananda asanas for two years in Nairobi, Kenya, under the director of the Patanjali Yoga and Ayurvedic Centre. In addition to my teaching qualifications and personal practice, I have been selected as the demonstrator/model for a yoga guide that will soon be published in the Netherlands. For the past 18 months, I have taught approximately 10 asana and pranayama classes a week, including prenatal classes at a women's hospital and two yoga studios; senior chair yoga classes at a retirement home and a community center; beginner and intermediate classes at a prestigious membership club, two yoga studios, and four gyms; and private classes for both groups and individuals in their residences.
