Give up meat at once. Observe Mouna for two hours daily. Live alone for two hours in a room.
Introspect. Meditate. Watch your thoughts carefully.

I believe the reason for your becoming an atheist has to do with your old samskaras. They are revived when you socialize with athiets or as you say materialists. Their energy touches your being and affects old karmic forces in you. I feel that when we are most stable in our values and believes then outer influences cannot affect us. We can then just walk away with respect and compassion for the otherness in the other person. I do not mean to say that you do not have respect or compassion for the other person. It is just that the karmic forces around us are strong. Swami Vivekananda once said: "The world is hard but my soul is much harder". I think we have to be that way and loving at the same time. Our own hardness should only be an aspect of our stability. But have to preserve our inner balance. Otherwise we will be the victims of our own self or ego.
Another way is to purify our thought by putting them at the alter of the higher Self within and withouht. I feel, that our higher Self is like a powerful garbage disposal and desolver of the impurities that we are prone to acquire. We need to connect with our higher Self and purify ourselves. It is just the recomendation in medicine: Washing your hands to ward off pathogens. We can wards of the karmic toxins by putting our impurities into the fire of our own higher Self.
One who is atheist is nothing but whose manomay kosa requires provinece proof. Its fairly Ok, its is better to know then belief than blindly belief and get frustrated latter, henceforth please open your mind, then your heart shall open and you could find the proof, which are already around you in abandance. So now how to open your mind? Just try to feel you breath first, then feel how your body is desperate to breathe, and cannot do with out, like wise your mind need to feel the presence of omniscent in every breath, then a mind shall understand the desperation for the need of omnisent, omnipresent presence in every and very aspect of ones very life. Upon this mano-kriya ones heart open towards higher dimention of understandings and knows the very need to assend higher in thoughts, then that person is theist. Shiva Shiva Mahadeva Guru-deva Devadi-deva, be your guide to assend higher from manomoy to anandamoy understanding.
