THE PLIGHT OF JIVAS

The bull of Jiva sleeps its long sleep under the large shadows of attachment, in the forest of worldliness, weltering in the mire of sinful actions, goaded by tile goad of ignorance and lashed by the whip of sensual enjoyments. It is bound by the strong cords of desire and is ever and anon tormented by the flea-bites of rare diseases.
A sage's power lies in lifting, through ceaseless effort, this bull which groans under the heavy load of pains. Having fallen into the pool of numberless births and

FOLLOW THE RULES

Even God follows certain self-imposed rules. Think of the universal laws, how beautifully they operate. Think of the correlation of the planets, and with what precision and rhythm they move. Cannot God also leave the world and remain absorbed in Himself? He has His eye on every atom of creation. You should acquire that much of self-discipline if you wish to evolve rapidly towards Godhead.

BE SWEET

A really sweet man is divine. He does not expect anything from others. His very nature is sweet. He brings joy to others by his innate sweetness.
Sweetness is born of Sattwa. It is the aroma of a perfected soul or an adept. It. is acquired through long and intense austerity, discipline, Yoga practice and communion with God in silence.
Sweetness should be the most essential attribute of a spiritual propagandist and public worker. The Rajasic ego should melt in the crucible of the Yogic fire. Rajas

CONQUEST OF THE SELF

The conquest of the lower self is conquest of the world. All animals possess one vicious quality or the other, but man is a complex animal. He possesses numerous evil traits.
Admit your faults freely. When you are free from all evil traits, Samadhi will come by itself. Under pressure of Yoga and meditation, various sorts of impurities m the mind come out, just like the dirt of a room that has been shut for six months. Aspirants should introspect and watch their mind.

Let him start with some positive suggestive formulas: “I am hale and hearty. I am
healthy. There is nothing wrong with me. I was under a misconception of my own abilities and
capacities. Now I have realized my real nature”. Let him do it with the help of some person
advanced in Yoga or a devotee of the Lord. Let him start with a prayer to the Lord. Let him
make prayer a part of his daily life and ‘a must’ in life. All negative thinking will end and he will
become quite normal.

Spirituality means growing into the form of the divine ideal. It is transformation of your nature from the human to the Divine. You can hope to achieve perfection only when you effect this transformation.
It is purification and change of heart alone that render concentration and meditation possible. In order to grow in Sattwa you must entirely destroy the diabolic side of your nature. Never imagine for a moment that you are anywhere near the goal unless and until you strive with earnestness and d

MAN – THE TRIUNE

Man is a mixture of three ingredients-human element, the brutal instinct, and a ray of the Divine. He has a finite intellect, a perishable body, a little knowledge and a little power.
This makes him distinctly human. Lust, anger and hatred belong to his brutal nature. The reflection of the Cosmic Intelligence is at the back of his intellect. So, he is an image of God. When the brutal instinct dies, when his ignorance is destroyed, when he is able to bear insult and injury, he becomes Divine.

THE BENEDICTION

The mental attitude of a man helps him to purify his heart very quickly. All acts done with divine feeling become divine activities. This is real Yoga.
Glory to India, the land of charity! May she con¬tinue her divine activities forever! May the people of this glorious Aryavarta live up to the ideals of their forefathers, the Rishis of yore!
May bliss ever flourish! May rains come at the proper time! May the earth yield plenty! May peace, prosperity and joy be unto all beings!

Yes, you should never miss an opportunity of visiting and worshipping at any shrine you
come across. When you go to a temple of Lord Vishnu or Devi, worship Lord Siva Himself
there. Look upon the Deity in the temple as another form of Lord Siva. If your father came to
you in the attire of a High Court Judge, or being an actor in a drama, if he came to you in the
dress of a female, will you turn away from him? You will greet him as your own father in any
case. Similar should be your attitude in worshi

THE CARE OF SPIRITUALITY

The workings of Maya are so extremely subtle, so very difficult to overcome, and human nature is so demoniacal and degenerate, that real spiritual pro¬gress and development in Sadhana are indeed very hard to attain.
To achieve success in any measure in spiritual life is the most difficult and uphill task. It is truly Divine Grace alone that can raise the aspirant from darkness to light. The rooting out of egoism in its numerous forms comprises the very core of spirituality.

EAT A LITTLE

Eat to live and not live to eat. Let your attention not be turned to accumulating food and enjoying the luxuries of life. If you are a whole-time spiritual student who has given up all work and taken to pure Japa and meditation, you can live on one meal a day. You will be free from diseases and your mind will be calm and serene. When you sit for meditation in the morning at 4am you will merge in Brahman.
