  • Hey Tim,
Actually yes it is, it's very much their marketing strategy to get you to come in as quickly as possible, thereby increasing their chances of people signing up. Also one must stay in the room the entire time, even if they're dying. I've seen people pass out before from the heat as well, and they'll still tell you to "stay in the room", or that you're body is just becoming used to it. Truthfully, I don't practice it anywhere as quite frankly I've become turned off by it. I was having some health issues, and I just didn't find them to be sympathetic about it, almost discriminatory really. I complained to the owner about his office manager and nothing was really done about it. The ironic thing is that they preach to you about how Bikram is so good for the body that it can cure all kinds of ails, and to just do it as much as possible to heal your body. I've been to several Bikram studios and just found them to be disrespectful about my health issue, even though I informed them straight on about it, and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem at all. They just wanted my money. However, I have a friend of mine that teaches it so I will go to only her class. Of course it's your decision to sign up or not and if you like it, that's great. What type of yoga do you do? Well, heading off for my hike now. :)

    Namaste.

  • Thanks for your comments to me. I studied anusara before it was called that at a Syda Yoga Ashram for 5 years. I then studied the Anusara Yoga Teacher Training Manual. John Friend has a new DVD set out from an Anusara conference. I really practice Kundalini more than Anusara now but if I teach Hatha it will be Anusara. I wish you well in your new area.
