SELF-RESTRAINT

Self-restraint is DAMA.
It is control of the senses.
It is a vedantic sadhana (practice).
It comes after the practice of sama (restraint of mind).
It is one of the sad sampat (six-fold wealth).
It does not allow the senses to run outwards.
It gives strength, peace, and concentration.
It develops will-power.
It helps you to disconnect or shut off the mind from the senses, and the senses from the objects.
It corresponds to pratyahara (sense-withdrawal) of Raja Yoga.

ENEMIES OF KNOWLEDGE

Religion Means 'To Do.'

It is only the one two little acts that you actually do, that constitute religion and spirituality.

To rise early and take the name of the Lord for ten minutes is what real dharma is.

TRUE RENUNCIATION

True renunciation is the renunciation of all passions, desires and egoism.
If you have a stainless mind, a mind free from attachment, egoism and passion, you are a sanyasin, no matter whether you live in a forest or in the bustle of a city, whether you wear white cloth or an orange colored robe, whether you shave your head or keep a long tuft of hair.
Many have not understood what true renunciation is.

Renunciation of physical objects is no renunciation at all.

PROGRAMME OF LIFE

O Lord! Let me have that wisdom where my mind will ever rest in peace in the innermost Atman; let me be ever established in the Absolute, Pure Consciousness or Satchidannda. Sanatkumara gave Narada instructions on Bhuma Vidya(Knowledge of Brahman), by which the unseen becomes seen, the unheard becomes heard, the unknown becomes known, and the unthought-of become thought-of. That is the science you must learn.

Opinions on Trance

It is obvious to say the trance is a special state, but it is not much more common than you may recognize. A daydream is a complex of unfinished desires which come out of subtle mind. Trance is not a common platform.
Any person who experiencing pain could feel the degree of pain and then try to recollect his memorable feelings of his past in order to abort from real pain. Trance may not be used as pain relief. The conscious mind does not accept pertaining to trance. Watching television is one wa

WHO IS A SAGE?

A Sage sees the supreme Atman in all beings. He beholds the imperishable amidst the perishable. A Sage has equal vision. He never think of nobility or lowness. He is above love or hate. He never has actions to do or not to do. A Jivanmukta or a realised sage is above rules. He may live as he likes. A moral behaviour is spontaneous in him. There is no external restraint for him. This does not mean that he can lead an immoral life.

SAMADHI AND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE

Subject and object relationship disappears.
There is an experience of infinite void alone.
There is an experience of “Aham Asmi, I Exist”.
Later on comes the experience of Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute.
Then there is only existence(Kevala Asti).
The soul merges in Brahman.
There is intense bliss in Nirvikalpa Samadhi(The superconscious state).

SAMADHI AND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE

Detach the mind from the objects.

Plunge yourself in the depths of your heart and rest in Atman.

In Samadhi all name and forms vanish.

There is a boundless infinite conscious ocean of light.

The forms appear unreal, like shadows or pictures painted on canvas.

Time and space vanish, Ego disappears. All dualities vanish.

Sivananda daily reading

In suppression of a desire there is force. There is tension. The desire remains hidden and manifests with redoubled force when an opportunity comes. In self-control the desire is eliminated by the power of discrimination. The desire dies a natural death. The desire is transmuted into will or spiritual energy.

Quote of the Day for May 06, 2015

“You should thank the one who draws attention to something in you, rather than being offended. Actually that person is doing you a great favour and service by giving you some knowledge about yourself which you, by yourself, have been unable to obtain”

Swami Chidananda

BLISS ABSOLUTE

Brahman or the Absolute is void as it transcends all relatively and is indescribable. It is void of the finite things of our ordinary experience. Behind the changing and finite world-appearance, there must be One Reality, infinite and eternal. Unless this being were consciousness, it would be a Self or Spirit(Atman). This Spirit being infinite and eternal, must be self-complete and therefore requires nothing beyond itself. It is therefore Bliss.

THE NATURE OF ATMAN

The nature of Supreme Self or Atma is pure awareness.
Awareness always implies existence.
How can awareness be without being existing?
Awareness and existence are one and the same thing.
Non-dual unconditioned, unqualified awareness is also harmony and peace.
So it is also blissful.
Thus the real nature of Atman is awareness or absolute consciousness, existence and bliss.
